Benefits of Homeschooling

Published by llfackrell under Homeschooling Edit This

If you’re looking into the idea of schooling your children from home you’re not alone. More parents are making this decision every year. The public school system is deteriorating in many areas. Lack of qualified and motivated teachers, rampant drug problems, violence, gang activity, and school shootings are enough to make any parent cringe. Let’s face it, public school isn’t what it used to be. There is an alternative and many concerned parents are taking it. Homeschooling. The age old concept of the parent’s taking their childrens education into their own hands.  The benefits of homeschooling seem to far outweigh any negative issues. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

Benefits of Homeschooling:

1) Spending time with your children

2) Flexible school hours

3) You are in control of the subject matter/studies. Many parents find this especially appealing due to religious beliefs. This gives you the opportunity to train your children within boundaries.

4) Teaching your children reinforces your role as the authority figure, in turn children gain more respect for their parents.

5) Homeschooling allows for more family time, reinforcing family bonds and morals.

6) Homeschooling saves money!  With difficult economic times this  is quickly becoming a factor for prospective parent/teachers.  Schooling children at home saves on gas, food, and clothing.

7) And perhaps the most important benefit…You know your child better than anyone else. By taking your childs education into your own hands, you can customize a learning plan and move at the childs own pace. Plans can be customized to fit your childs distinct learning style.

There are many other factors to consider when deciding between homeschooling or traditional public education. Each state has different regulations concerning the matter. I urge you to visit www.hslda.org for more information.
