I have had insomnia since my first child was born almost 17 years ago. I learned to sleep so lightly that I could hear if they breathed funny and having babies in the house for so many years (my youngest is 7) just ruined my sleep habits.

As far as the television goes, it sounds as if you need to have a frank discussion with your husband about your need for rest. He may need a few sleepless nights to train himself to sleep without it in order for you to be able to get any sleep at all. It's a small sacrifice considering how much sleep we as mothers lose over a lifetime, don't you think?
